Hi Rachel fans. I was just up at Saratoga and saw her. The local paper reported that they like to "school" her on the Thursday before her race, and that she would be appearing in the Saratoga paddock area today at approximately 2:50 p.m. They paraded her around for a while, and lots of people were lining the paddock area, sporadically clapping for her.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! I am still going to the PE on Sunday but couldn't miss an opportunity to see her up close while it wasn't too crowded.
Do any of you fellow Rachel groupies know why she always has her tongue hanging out?? She is such a beautiful horse but today had her tongue hanging out the whole time, giving her a slightly doofus look. Is it a nervous habit? Just curious as I have seen many pictures of her that way as well.

ReplyDeleteSome horses have that habit and the trainers will sometimes train them to tuck it in by honey in their mouth as persuasion. But evidently, her connections don't see a need for tucking it in, or perhaps there is some kind of limitation as to why they don't. That would be a great question to ask Asmussen on an interview.
